Immanuel

For this fourth Sunday of Advent, Pastor John leads us through the prophecy of Isaiah 7:10-16. This familiar promise comes to us in the midst of an unfamiliar story. The promise of a virgin who will bear a son, and will call him Immanuel takes place in a downright confusing story about the political and military posturing of Judah, Samaria, Assyria, and Aram in times of war. But this points us to the power of God's promises! In uncertain times, God promises us God-with-us.
